Delhi court grants bail to former MLA Asif Khan in police manhandling case

Former MLA Asif Mohammad Khan gets bail from Delhi court on Thursday in the case relating to manhandling and abusing of a police officer on duty.

A case was registered against the Former MLA Asif Mohammad Khan on a complaint made by an inspector named Ram Kishor from MCD Lajpat Nagar Zone claiming that the MLA had abused and assaulted MCD staff who was on duty disturbing and obstructing the government work in progress.

A case had been file in the Shaheen Bagh police station under Section 168, Section 353, Section 332 and Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

A video of the Congress MLA assaulting a group of people has already got viral where he is seen irritated and agitated assaulting people after a poster bearing his picture was removed in front of his Okhla residence.

Initially, the Court had found that the former MLA being an influential man had a responsibility toward the society in large. It also noted that he had assaulted and manhandled the police cop along with using derogatory and abusive words.

Court also took a note of the fact that MLA misbehaved with SI also who was in uniform in front of other cops who were his subordinates and local public.

This behaviour by the MLA called for strict action as this could effect the police-community relations that exist which are the foundation stones for the effective policing.
