Delhi court grants interim bail to Olympian Sushil Kumar in murder case of fellow wrestler

A local court in Delhi on Friday granted interim bail to Olympian wrestler Sushil Kumar in murder case of former junior national wrestling champion Sagar Dhankar.

The Rohini court granted interim bail to the two-time Olympic medallist on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh till November 12.

The court directed him to deposit Rs 10,000 as security with the Jail Superintendent.

While granting bail to Sushil Kumar, the court directed him that two policemen will always remain with him for protection, whose expenses will be borne by the wrestler.

He was granted interim bail by the court on humanitarian grounds, to nurse his ailing wife Savi.

The two-time Olympic medallist was lodged at Tihar Jail for his alleged involvement in the murder of Dhankar. He is facing murder charges.

As of now, the police have arrested 18 people in connection with the matter.

Two charge-sheets have been filed against Sushil Kumar and others by the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police.
