The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has moved a court in Delhi against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that he was not complying with the summons issued by the national agency in the Delhi excise policy case.
Appearing before the court on Saturday for the national agency, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju submitted that Kejriwal was issued five summons in the past four months, however, he chose to ignore.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Malhotra listed the matter for further hearing on February 7.
The national agency has filed the fresh complaint case under Section 190 (1)(a) of Cr.P.C. read with Section 200 of the Code, Section 174 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and Section 63 (4) of PMLA, 2002.
Besides Kejriwal, ED has arrested Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh in the money laundering case. They were currently in judicial custody.
ED alleged that the Delhi Excise Policy 2020-21 was implemented as part of a conspiracy to give wholesale business profit of 12 percent to certain private companies, although such a stipulation was not mentioned in the minutes of meetings of Group of Ministers (GoM).
It further claimed that there was a conspiracy that was coordinated by Vijay Nair and other individuals, along with some businessmen from South India, to give extraordinary profit margins to wholesalers. ED added that Nair was acting on behalf of Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia.
SPPs Zoheb Hossain and Simon Benjamin also appeared for the national agency.
