The Delhi High Court on Friday adjourned to March 21, a petition challenging the bail granted to former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case related to the Delhi Excise Policy scam case.
The single-judge Bench of Justice Vikas Mahajan passed the order on request of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The Counsel appearing for the national agency apprised the High Court that the ASG was on his legs before the Supreme Court.
The prayer was vehemently opposed by Senior Advocate Vikram Chaudhri, representing Kejriwal.
Senior Advocate Chaudhri contended that ED had been repeatedly taking dates in the matter from the past few months.
Pointing out that Delhi would be going for Assembly elections on February 5, the Senior Counsel alleged that this was only a propaganda.
He further contended that 15 other accused in the case had been granted bail, then why should this sword hang over him.
The Counsel appearing for ED aegued that no prejudice was caused to Kejriwal due to adjournments as he was already out on interim bail granted by the Apex Court.
Agreeing that no prejudice was caused to Kejriwal, the High Court listed the matter for further hearing on March 21.
