The Delhi High Court on Monday has observed that there is a need for modification in the policy for the procedure for getting ration as people who have Aadhaar Cards and Voter IDs but do not have a ration card.
A bench comprising of Chief Justice DN Patel & Justice C. Hari Shankar were hearing a petition filed by an NGO, Nayee Soch Society seeking directions regarding easy provision for providing ration to the people in need who only have Aadhaar or Voter IDs at Fair Price Shops.
The Court has observed that if there is some change in the policy for simplifying the procedure the same needs to be duly informed to all the fair price owners.
The petitioner has also sought directions to the Government to submit the details of people who have taken the benefit of ration by applying on the Food Department’s website through Aadhar card since March 25.
The bench has directed the state government to look into the matter and if there persists a situation for changes in policy, then it shall be done in accordance with the need of the public at large.
