The Delhi High Court on Tuesday has strongly reprimanded the Delhi Government and said the administration has been paralyzed during a hearing on the increasing dengue cases in Delhi.
The bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Jasmeet Singh said it is a very sorry state of affairs in the city as the officials concerned are living with a casual attitude as there is a large population so the diseases like this will come and go and there is nothing to be bothered about.
The bench called out the city’s municipal corporations for their failure to control the spread of dengue in the capital, and said civic administration is paralyzed completely as no one seems to be bothered by deaths caused by the spread of dengue.
The High Court said the Delhi government is not able to run the administration properly and said the elections here are contested on basis of what is what is being provided free to the public. The bench further commented that the city will change completely if elections are fought on real issues.
Simultaneously, the High Court appointed advocate Rajat Aneja as Amicus Curiae to assist the court on the matter of increasing cases of dengue in Delhi, while directing the case to Chief Justice D.N. Patel, who is dealing with a similar issue of mosquito infestation in the national capital.

The High Court said that there is large-scale breeding of mosquitoes in the city. This is the reason as to why the diseases like malaria, chikungunya and dengue occur on a large scale every year.
The court said that no one has any responsibility, there is no accountability. Everyone has accepted that these diseases come and go. It doesn’t matter if people die because of such diseases. Apart from this, the court also pointed out that the government makes policies only in a populist manner to appeal to the common people.
