The Delhi High Court on Friday (Nov 2) reserved its verdict on a plea by self-styled godman Daati Maharaj challenging high court’s Oct 3 order by which the case against him was transferred to the CBI from the Delhi Police in a sexual assault case.

In the plea, Maharaj had contended that the petitioners’ information was based on hearsay and they don’t have concrete information.

During today’s hearing, Maharaj’s counsel said that transfer of the petition results into reinvestigation. “Another FIR has been registered against my client. This Writ petition is primarily based on the newspapers. Main source of information is the newspapers,” the counsel contented.

He further contented that no grounds of transfer existed and as far as the arrest was concerned, Investigating Officer (IO) had his own reasons. Arrest falls in the domain of the IO.
