Delhi HC seeks reply from Centre, AIIMS for denying reservation to acid attack victim

The Delhi High Court on Friday (July 6) asked Central government and AIIMS as why an acid attack victim (petitioner) has been denied reservation under Persons With Disability (PWD) quota for seeking job in the medical institution.

The single-judge bench of Justice PS Teji meanwhile permitted the petitioner to apply under General Category.

The bench fixed September 13 as final date of hearing.

The petitioner Yasmeen Mansuree has challenged the AIIMS notification in which it had barred acid attack victims to apply under the PWD quota for the post of staff nurse.

In the plea, Mansuree has referred to an amendment in the disability act (2016) in which acid attack victims has been put under Disability benchmark.
