Delhi HC seeks reply from Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, Delhi govt and DDA on denial of beds to EWS patients

The Delhi High Court on Friday (Oct 26) asked the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute (RGCI), Delhi government and DDA as why the norm of providing free treatment to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) patients to extent of 10 per cent IPD and 25 per cent OPD was not followed at RGCI.

Matter will be next heard on January 29.

The court was hearing a PIL by an NGO, Social Jurist against RGCI on denial of free treatment to EWS patients. It also seeks recovery of unwarranted profits earned by denial of free treatment to poor patients in past over two decades.
