The Delhi High Court questioned the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on a look out circular which they had issued against the journalists Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy in 201. The Court said that the agency cannot continue (it) in perpetuity and that the matter should be sorted by this time as it cannot go like this forever.
Justice Prathiba M Singh who was hearing the plea that was moved by Roys challenging the lookout circular in the registration of two FIRs dated June 2, 2017 and August 19, 2019.
The Counsel for CBI said that the lookout circular is still continuing, as the court orally said, “you cannot continue (it) in perpetuity.”
Justice Singh, observing that the matter cannot continue on and on like this, has, listed the case for hearing on April 28.
Last year the permission to travel was granted to Roys for going abroad. The court had then noted that investigation is ongoing and no chargesheet has been filed by CBI.
It was also noted that an earlier LOC had expired on June 19, 2020 and that a second LOC was thereafter opened.
Examining the affidavit which was filed on behalf of CBI, the court said that it as noted that various allegations were levelled with respect to certain financial transaction which were undertaken by the duo in their capacity as being part of the management of New Delhi Television Ltd.
