The Delhi High Court has directed the Tihar Jail Superintendent for ensuring that the medical treatment is given to the Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik, who has been suffering from cardiac ailments.Yasin Malik is convicted in a terror funding case
In a plea moved by Yasin Malik seeking appropriate directions upon Union Government and jail authorities, the order was passed by Justice Anoop Kumar for referring him to necessary medical treatment as he is suffering from cardiac and kidney related ailments.
The Counsel for the Centre Rajat Nair, told court that a medical board was constituted by AIIMS, which Malik has denied to be examined by.
The Counsel informed that Yasin Malik does not require to be admitted in AIIMS as he can be very well examined as an OPD patient which can be done in jail itself.
The Counsel for Malik’s however informed the Court that Yasin has been treated by different doctors (jail doctors) for the last two years and the change in doctors (medical board of AIIMS) may affect his health.
The Court has adjourned the matter to February 14 and sought instructions from Malik’s counsel if he wants to be treated from AIIMS doctors or other doctors of his choice.
