To enhance the efficiency of legal proceedings as well as expedite the disposal of matters, the Delhi High Court has issued a circular requesting the counsels for the petitioners and prosecuting agencies to avoid unnecessary pass-overs or adjournments in matters related to granting or cancellation of bail, interim bail, furlough, suspension of sentence, and parole.
Issued by the Registrar General on Thursday, the circular requested the counsel(s) for the petitioners and prosecuting agencies to avoid unnecessary pass-overs or adjournments and file status reports & replies within the stipulated time frame.
The counsels were further requested to render all assistance in obtaining nominal rolls from jail authorities promptly and swiftly comply with the court orders.
All bail applications in the High Court must be accompanied by status reports filed by the investigating authorities before the district courts, it said, adding that the cooperation of the bar was highly appreciated in ensuring expeditious disposal of cases and smooth functioning of judicial proceedings.
