The Delhi High Court on Wednesday isdued notice on a petition challenging the appointment of IPS officer Rakesh Asthana as the Delhi Commissioner of Police.
The bench comprising Chief Justice D.N. Patel and Jyoti Singh issued the notice on the Intervention Application (IA) filed by the Centre of Public Interest Litigation (CPIL) through Advocate Prashant Bhushan, along with an ongoing petition challenging Asthana’s appointment as Delhi Police Commissioner.
The Court fixed September 9 as the next date of hearing.
Earlier on Tuesday, after noting down the submission of Advocate Prashant Bhushan, the Court had deferred the matter for today. The Supreme Court had recently asked the Delhi High Court to decide within two weeks the petition filed before it challenging the appointment of Rakesh Asthana as Delhi Police Commissioner.
