A Delhi court on Saturday postponed the hearing on a petition seeking ban on movie Adipurush, as the Judge looking into the matter was on leave.
Senior Civil Judge Abhishek Kumar at Tis Hazari Court was scheduled to hear arguments on the maintainability of the suit under Order VII Rule 11 of Code of Civil Procedure.
Advocate Raj Gaurav had filed a petition in the court, seeking removal of teaser of the film from all social media platforms, saying that the film was violative of morality and dignity and was likely to hurt the sentiments of the majority of Hindus.
The plea claimed that the portrayal of both Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman in the teaser hurt the sentiments of Hindus.
It added that film makers cannot play with religious faith and history under the guise of freedom of expression.
The petition said that in a scene in the film, Lord Ram was shown wearing a leather band instead of a sacred thread and a modern type of leather footwear instead of a khadaun.
Bahubali fame actor Prabhas plays the role of Lord Ram, while Saif Ali Khan portrays the role of Raavan in the movie, which is slated to release on January 12.
