Dengue, Chikungunya threat: Delhi HC wants authorities to keep NCR clean

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday (August 7) directed Delhi government and civic authorities to maintain cleanliness around National Capital Region (NCR) to control the spread of vector-borne diseases, Chikungunya and Dengue.

The bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar appreciated the work done by the civic authorities in controlling the vector-borne diseases and advised not to lose momentum and keep working with the same enthusiasm.

The bench was acting on the PIL filed by Arpit Bhargava, raising concern that the Delhi government and civic authorities have not taken preventive steps to control vector-borne diseases such as Chikungunya and Dengue in the capital.

The matter will again be heard on September 18.
