Farmers union moves Madhya Pradesh HC, says farmers after being cheated at Rewa district procurement centre

A petition has been filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking action against people responsible for the robbery of paddy of more than 300 farmers from a procurement center.

Notices have been issued to the State Government, Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies, General Manager Civil Supplies Corporation, Rewa, Controller Food and Civil Supplies, Commissioner Rewa Division, Collector Rewa, SDO Tianthar, SP Rewa and SHO Sohagi.

The case was heard by a single bench of Justice Sanjay Dwivedi. During this time, Advocate Nityanand Mishra presented the petition on behalf of the petitioner Bharatiya Kisan Union (non-political) and farmer Lalji, resident of Rewa.

The Counsel argued that the paddy weighed in the center number three purchased under Rewa district was not paid. An excuse for online disturbances was made for this. For a long time, farmers were only assured. His paddy was later stolen from the procurement center.

Therefore, strict action should be taken against the culprits in the case. The farmers’ token was cut by the procurement center in-charge on January 31, 2020, whose acknowledgment was not provided to the farmers.

Paddy was weighed on February 1, 2020. During this, the farmers emphasized on the acknowledgment. On this, the amount of paddy was fed on the computer and only after it was assured to be acknowledged. Despite this, the latter was repeatedly led astray.

Outraged by this, the Bharatiya Kisan Union Block unit, Tianthar, District Rewa, adopted the path of agitation. Despite this, the payment was absent and one day the information of the loss of paddy was taken away as a result hard-earned money of the farmers was grabbed.

The Court has given six-weeks time to the respondents to file a reply.
