Felling of trees in Delhi: Delhi HC restrains NBCC from constructions till further orders

The Delhi High Court on Thursday (August 30) restrained National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) from constructions in Naroji Nagar except for preventing the road from caving in till further orders.

The court was informed by the NBCC that they wanted to revisit the six pending projects in the Naroji Nagar area and prayed for the two weeks’ time.

The court granted time to NBCC and told it to file affidavit in two weeks’ time.

During the course of proceedings, the Delhi government and SDMC sought modification in the court order. The court said there pleadings will be considered on September 6.

The matter will again be heard on October 3.

The court was hearing the plea raising concern over the mass cutting of 20,000 trees in Delhi for the purpose of “re-development” of six South Delhi colonies.
