The Delhi High Court on Tuesday adjourned hearing in a PIL seeking direections to espouse the cause of several patients who are residing in “Rain Baseras” at AIIMS.
The division bench comprising of Justice Vipin Sanghi & Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar was hearing the petition filed by Rachna Malik seeking directions for the outstation patients alleging they are not being provided with the medication as they were getting earlier from AIIMS pharmacy.
Advocate AnandVerma, appearing for AIIMS submitted before the Court that, the pharmacy at AIIMS has been functioning in a limited way, and medicines for cancer and AIDS are being distributed from the pharmacy.
Mr. Verma also contended that “…on account of a large workforce of AIIMS not being able to reach the pharmacy due to the lockdown, the functioning of the pharmacy has been affected.” The counsel further sought time to file a status report.
Whereas, earlier in another case before the Delhi HC regarding a similar issue apart from other issues. It is a PIL filed by Karan Seth seeking directions regarding the treatment and accommodation for hundreds of outstations patients and their attendants who were earlier being treated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi (AIIMS) for several ailments as AIIMS stand converted into an exclusive facility to treat Covid-19 patients.
The Court adjourned the matter and directed AIIMS to file a status report. The Court has further decided to list the matter along with the PIL filed by Mr. Seth. The matters will be heard next on 8th May 2020.
