The Gauhati High Court closed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed for the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY).
K. Arkha Achumi, counsel for the petitioner mentioned that the PIL has been complied with as per the report filed by the State respondents through the Additional AG, however, he submits that there is an extension order with regard to the Scheme which he is not able to file before the Court.
V. Suokhrie, Additional AG submits that, insofar as the instant PIL is concerned, the State respondents had done the needful and the prayer in the PIL has been fully complied with by the State respondents. She submits that the PIL may be closed since no further steps are required to be taken by the State respondents.
Having heard the submissions made by both the parties, the Kohima Bench of Justice Marli Vankung finds that since the prayer in the PIL petition for implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) for the months of April to November, 2020, has been met by the State respondents in the documents filed alongwith reply to the PIL showing that the persons to benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) Scheme have all been supplied with rice and pulses as per the Scheme during the month of April to November, 2020, the Bench find that no further steps is required to be taken by the State respondents with respect to the instant PIL.
In view of the above, the Bench finds it fit that the instant PIL be closed and accordingly disposed of.
