Himachal Pradesh High Court disposes of PIL against illegal mining, illegal felling of trees in Mandi district

The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Thursday disposed of a PIL against the illegal mining and illegal felling of trees in Khad, Gram Panchayat Tunna, Post Office Jachh, Tehsil Chachiot, District Mandi, Himacha Pradesh.

The PIL, filed by petitioners Daleep Kumar and Krishan Kumar, said such illegal mining and felling of trees is taking place at the instance of a private respondent. To substantiate the allegations, certain photographs have been placed on record by the petitioners.

The Division Bench of Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq and Justice Sabina while considering the PIL directed the petitioners to approach the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Chachiot at Gohar, District Mandi, who shall inspect the site and prevent any illegal mining and illegal felling of trees, after due notice to private respondent, in accordance with law.

The petitioners shall produce a copy of the petition and requisite material, which they seek to rely upon along with a copy of this order before the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), within a period of three days, the Court further directed.
