The Delhi Police Crime Branch filed two chargesheets in the North East Delhi Riots case today. The first case involves the IB official Ankit Sharma Murder case and the second is the Rajdhani School riot case.
In Ankit Sharma’s murder case, the Crime Branch filed its chargesheet against Aam Admi Party (AAP) Councilor Tahir Hussain and 15 others for allegedly hatching a conspiracy for the murder of a young IB Official, Ankit Sharma. Ankit Sharma was murdered on the evening of February 2, 2020 and his body was thrown in a nearby drain which was recovered by the Police, the very next morning.
A video captured by a witness became viral where a group of persons were seen dumping the dead body in the drain. The post mortem report shows 51 injuries on Ankit Sharma’s body.
The Second chargesheet is in connection with the Rajdhani Public School riot case in which rioters had barged inside the School premises on February 24 where the classrooms and public property were vandalized. The owner of DRP Convent Public School which is adjacent to the Rajdhani School registered a complaint against the rioters and the owner of the School.
The rioters after entering the School premises fired bullets from the terrace of the School building. They also threw petrol bombs, acid, bricks, stones and other missiles using an improvised large iron catapult, specially installed for the purpose. The rioters further used ropes to climb down from the terrace of Rajdhani School into the compound of DRP Convent School and then the mob had set the school on fire. The mob had looted the computers and other expensive items from DRP Convent School.
Faisal Farooque, owner of Rajdhani School and 18 other persons have been arrested in this case. It has been alleged that Faisal Farooque had hatched a conspiracy to precipitate and aggravate riots, in and around Rajdhani School. It has also been alleged that on the day of incident many children from Muslim families left school early along with their parents.
The Delhi Police Crime branch filed the chargesheets in Karkardooma Court today.
