Delhi High Court judge, Justice A K Pathak on Wednesday (August 1) extended the interim protection granted to senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram to September 28 in the INX Media case.
The mater pertains to the anticipatory bail application filed under Section 438 of the Cr. P.C. read with section 65 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2003, by Chidambaram in connection to the case. He sought directions to be released on bail in the event of his arrest in relation to Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) bearing no. F. No. ECIR/7/HIU/2017, subject to such conditions or directions, as deemed fit by the court.
On the last date of hearing the court granted interim protection till August 1 (TODAY). The court had said that no coercive steps shall be taken against him till next date plus he shall also co-operate with the investigation agencies and not allowed to travel abroad without the court’s permission.
