Jammu and Kashmir High Court disposes of PIL on security at court complexes

The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has disposed of a suo motu Public Interest Litigation (PIL) concerning the security measures in place at the High Court complexes and District Courts across the Union Territories.

The PIL was heard by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Rajesh Sekhri.

The court’s order came after a compliance report was filed by H A Siddiqui, counsel representing the High Court.

The report detailed the measures taken by the respondents to improve the security scenario, including the installation of CCTV surveillance cameras, boom barriers, and entry regulations.

The court noted that significant progress had been made to enhance security, but some issues still required attention.

The court directed the Registrar General to take up the pending issues with the agencies concerned and ensure their resolution.
