The Jammu and Kashmir High Court disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed with reference to charging of tuition fee, bus fee or any other sought of incidental fee charged from the parents by any educational institute from August-2019 onwards till normal class work resumes.
The PIL has been filed by one Sheikh Umar Farooq in the year 2019.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul was informed by M. A. Chashoo, Additional Advocate General (AAG) that the grievances of the petitioner stands settled by formation of Committee for Fixation of Fee Structure of Private Educational Institutions, J&K.
It is further informed by AAG that the Committee is said to be issuing the orders from time to time to regulate the matters within its ambit and the Committee is providing hearings to the various parent bodies as also the School associations.
In view of above, the instant PIL has been disposed of by the High Court.
However, the grievance, if any, of any of the individual parent can be addressed by approaching the said Committee/Government , directed by the High Court.
