The Jharkhand High Court on Thursday directed the Secretary of Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) to investigate the issue of MGM Hospital’s negligence in the treatment of a woman burns patient in Jamshedpur.
Advocate Anup Aggarwal, who wrote a letter to the Chief Justice in the case, stated that the said woman had burns of 91 percent, but she was being treated in General Ward instead of the Burns Ward. Due to negligence in treatment, she died. Therefore, this matter should be investigated, Aggarwal said.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Dr. Ravi Ranjan and Justice S.N. Prasad has asked the JHALSA Secretary to submit the report in the High Court. According to the case, a woman from Jamshedpur was set on fire by her husband who later escaped. Some people nearby admitted her to MGM Hospital. It is alleged that the woman died due to lack of proper treatment. The next hearing in this case will be a week later.
