The Jharkhand High Court on Sunday issued a circular whereby the summer vacation for the year 2020 has been postponed sine die and the High Court has also relaxed the advocates’ dress code as a step to contain COVID-19.
The notification reads as “ the Court has been pleased to modify the earlier notification dated 07.05.2020 to the extent that the Annual Summer Vacation of this court commencing from 18th May, 2020 to 6th June, 2020 instead of being cancelled shall stand postponed sine die subject to any further decision taken by the Hon’ble Full Court.”
With respect to advocates dress code the circular said “it is notified for the information of all concerned that as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 infection under the prevailing conditions, the court has been pleased to direct that the advocates may wear ‘plain white shirt/ white salwar kameez/ white saree with a plain white neck band’ during the hearing before the High Court of Jharkhand as well as the subordinate courts of the state of Jharkhand through virtual court system till further orders.”
By the aforesaid notification the High Court has also suspended the rule 228 of the Jharkhand High Court Rules, 2001 and rule 470 of civil court rules till further orders.
