The Karnataka High Court has recently directed the state government to inform it about the steps taken further for providing video-conference hearing facilities to quasi-judicial authorities in the state.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka and Justice N.S. Sanjay Gowda was informed by the Karnataka Government that it has initiated steps for providing video-conference hearing facilities to quasi-judicial authorities in the state. A report signed by the Principal Secretary to the Government Revenue Department is produced along with the memo. From the said report, the Court observed that the State Government has initiated steps for providing video conference hearing facilities to quasi-judicial authorities in the State through the Centre for e-Governance.
“Further steps taken by the State Government for providing video conference hearing facilities to quasi judicial authorities in the State shall be reported to this Court by September 16, 2021. List the petition on September 17,” the order reads.

The compliance report was filed, following a direction issued by the Court to the State government for providing video conferencing facilities to quasi-judicial authorities in the state , the State Revenue Department submits a proposal to the Finance department under the Karnataka Land Revenue Act for the same.
