Karnataka High Court stays trial court proceedings against BS Yediyurappa in sexual harassment case

The Karnataka High Court on Friday stayed the proceedings going on in a trial court against former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in a sexual harassment case filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

The single-judge Bench of Justice Pradeep Singh Yerur further quashed the summons issued against Yediyurappa on the grounds that the matter required detailed hearing.

On February 28, 2025, Additional City Civil and Sessions Judge (First Track Special Court) Judge NM Ramesh, handling cases under the POCSO Act, directed the former chief minister
and three other persons accused of trying to bury evidence of the alleged crime, to appear before it on March 15.

The High Court exempted Yediyurappa and others from personal appearance before trial court till the next date of hearing.
