The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) versus Karthi P Chidambaram case has been listed before Supreme Court for hearing on July 26. The top court bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud decided this on Wednesday (July 4).

This is the case where the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) had registered a money laundering case against former Finance Minister P Chidambaram’s son Karthi. The agency registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR), which is the ED’s equivalent of a first information report (FIR), against those named in a complaint filed by the CBI.

The names included in this case are Karthi Chidambaram, INX Media and its directors, Peter and Indrani Mukerjea, and “unknown officials of the finance ministry”.
