The Delhi High Court has adjourned till Friday a petition filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against the Election Commission of India which had claimed that by making remarks about bribery during the last election campaign Goa, the Delhi CM had  violated the model code of conduct.

Seeking a stay on the EC order which threatened to take action against him and his party if such remarks were uttered in future, Kejriwal said this amounted to  curtailing his freedom of speech and expression.

The BJP had filed two complaints against Kejriwal seeking his prosecution under various sections of Indian Penal Code for asking voters to accept money. The Congress too had condemned his statement.

The poll panel had, thereafter, directed that a complaint be lodged against the AAP leader under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act dealing with bribing voters and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
