In view of the disastrous floods in Kerala, the Supreme Court on Thursday (August 16) directed the state of Tamil Nadu to maintain the water level at 142 feet at the Mullaperiyar Dam. The court ordered that the state was to file a report on the situation by Friday morning.
The Supreme Court directive was in accordance with its previous direction. This was in view of the Kerala floods, the court said.
The court also directed the sub-committee of Disaster Management to consider reducing water level at Mullaperiyar dam to 139 feet.
