The Madhya Pradesh High Court disposed of a petition with the direction that Municipal Council Sirmour, District Rewa Administrator and SDO should ensure concrete action on a complaint of embezzlement of Rs 13 lakh.
The Court ordered that in this regard, the representation of the petitioner should be taken seriously by the concerned authority.
The case was heard before the division bench of Chief Justice Mohammad Rafique and Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla.
During the hearing, Advocate Amit Seth appeared on behalf of petitioner Lallu Prasad Lodhi, resident of Sirmour and city council member.
The counsel for the petitioner argued that respondent No. 4 had embezzled Rs 13 lakh. Despite the complaint of embezzlement of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, concrete action has not been taken by the authorities.
The petitioner alleged that it was assured by the authorities that recovery of the amount from the embezzler will be ensured. But this has not happened yet. That is why the petitioner has approached the High Court in the larger public interest.
Thus the misuse of public funds is not tolerable. It is expected that not only departmental but also legal action should be initiated against embezzlers, claimed the petitioner.
