Madras High Court disposes of PIL seeking directions to perform heart surgeries in government medical colleges/hospitals during night hours

The Madras High Court disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed seeking direction to the respondents to take steps to perform CTCA (Computer Tomography Coronary Angiography) , Emergency, Angioplasty, Coronary and artery Bypass Graft Surgery and Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery Open heart surgery and life saving operations in all Government Medical College hospitals during night hours in the State.

The PIL has been filed by one C.Anand Raj.

The Division Bench of Chief Justice Sanjay V. Gangapurwala and Justice P.Dhanabal noted that the petition is filed making generalised averments.

“Unless certain instances are given as to emergent medical attention being required and not provided for, the case in general terms cannot be considered.”

If the petitioner comes across some instances of the emergency medical aid not being provided in the night time in the Government Medical College Hospitals, then, the petitioner may agitate in respect of the same, held by the High Court.
