Madras High Court disposes of petition seeking reception board in all police stations for receiving complaints

The Madras High Court disposed of a petition seeking directions against the State of Tamil Nadu to instruct all Station House Officers to fix a reception board for receiving complaints and issuing CSR (Community Service Register) upon receipt of every police complaint in the police station.

The Petition is filed by one S.Shanmugam.

Additional Public Prosecutor submits that, in fact, now there is a Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) Portal, where the entire information is placed.

It is further submitted that as far as the complaint of the petitioner is concerned, which was forwarded by the National Human Rights Commission, the crime is registered in under Sections 294(b), 323 and 324 of the Indian Penal Code.

“It appears that a system is in place. The petitioner may make himself aware of the same”, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Sanjay V. Gangapurwala and Justice P.D.Audikesavalu observed.
