ILNS: The Rajasthan High Court on Tuesday directed hospitals to make available the position of beds on their website on a ‘Real-time Basis’ and update the portal immediately on the vacancy of a bed, without sticking to updating it thrice a day.
The bench, comprising Chief Justice Indrajit Mahanty and Justice Vinit Kumar Mathur, said, “The State Government shall ensure compliance of this order and file affidavit to this effect before the next date, including the details about the sourcing of oxygen and other medicines for the treatment of COVID-19.”
The Court asked the State Government to consider taking the services of final year students as well as PG students of MBBS/Post Graduation for the Doctors and likewise for the nursing staff for their deployment on the emergent basis, if they are suitable in all respects, to serve the general public at large.
The State Government, as well as the Central Government, are directed to ensure adequate supply of oxygen and other medicines required to deal with the situation in the state on a war-footing, it ordered.
The Bench further said that the supply of oxygen and medicines should be ensured in both government, as well as private hospitals, without their being any distinction. The Court made various directions to the competent authorities of the state government to supply the medicines, in particular Remdesivir injection, on receipt of the requisition urgently.
It was also informed to the High Court that the oxygen generation plant/room in Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, Jodhpur is not being put to use.

“We direct the State Government to explore the possibility of operation of oxygen generation plants in the State, which are not in operation but the same are capable of producing oxygen forthwith, including the one located at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital at Jodhpur.” The next date of hearing is May 6.
