Taking suo motu cognizance of video clippings circulating in the social, showing encroachment in the protected Sanjay Van, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday (July 8), directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to ensure that no encroachment takes place within Sanjay Van.
The division bench, comprising Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rajnish Bhatnagar has also directed the Delhi Police and DDA to file a status report, clearly stating as to how many Mazars are in existence within the area and since when.
Advocate Pant, appearing for DDA, submitted that the video clips have been doing the rounds for about a month. He also informed the bench that last morning itself a visit was made by the senior officers of the DDA and, on instructions, he stated that no encroachment has taken place in the Sanjay Van, yet that some Mazars are existing within the area of the Sanjay Van.
The bench has also directed the DDA to conduct an aerial survey of the entire Sanjay Van with the use of drones with cameras.
Further the Delhi Police has been directed to render all assistance and provide the necessary force to DDA in removing any encroachment in the area if called for by the DDA.
The matter has been transferred to the Chief Justices bench to be listed for next hearing on July 29.
