The apex court on Friday (July 27) slammed the CBI for slow progress in the investigation into the case pertaining to the alleged extra-judicial killings in Manipur and directed the CBI director to appear before it on the next date of hearing.

On the previous hearings, the top court had directed the CBI director to constitute a team of officers to conduct the investigation into the killings.

The court was hearing a PIL seeking a probe into as many as 1,528 cases of extra-judicial killings in Manipur.
