A Delhi Rouse Avenue court on Monday allowed AAP leader Manish Sisodia to meet his ailing wife at their residence once a week while he remains in custody. The court passed its order, in response to the AAP leader’s application seeking permission to visit his wife twice a week.
The court observed that the doctor treating Manish Sisodia’s wife can accompany him during the visit at their residence. It also clarified that the permission for Manish Sisodia to meet his wife once a week will remain in effect until further orders from the court.
During today’s proceedings, the AAP leader opted not to press his regular bail application on its merits, focusing entirely on the interim application for visitation rights. The Delhi Rouse Avenue court has adjourned the matter to February 12 for further deliberation.
Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) argued that AAP leader Manish Sisodia’s wife is not confined to bed or in an immovable position. Nonetheless, the CBI expressed willingness for the court to consider the matter on humanitarian grounds, wishing Sisodia’s wife a speedy recovery.
The AAP leader submitted that his wife is unable to move alone for 15-20 minutes and cannot be left unattended. After hearing the submission, Special Judge M K Nagpal, allowed Manish Sisodia’s plea to visit his wife.
On the other hand, the Supreme Court today agreed to list the curative petitions lodged by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia seeking bail in the Delhi liquor policy case. Appearing for the AAP leader, Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, mentioned the curative petition before the Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud.
Manish Sisodia was first arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in a case related to the excise policy on February 26 and later by the Enforcement Directorate on March 9.
