The mother of the prime accused in the Aditya Sachdeva murder case, Manorama Devi, was granted bail on 6th June by the Patna High Court. Devi had been charged in an excise case after six IMFL bottles were found in her house during a police raid.
Devi’s counsel YV Giri argued that liquor bottles were only recovered from her house and not from her physical possession. He also pleaded that the suspended JD(U) MLC is a law-abiding person as she had surrendered before the court.
On May 19, the additional chief judicial magistrate had rejected her bail petition. Subsequently on May 27, the Gaya district court too turned down her bail plea.
Devi surrendered before the Gaya court on May 17 after she had gone into hiding for a couple of days.
The suspended MLC shot into limelight after her son was allegedly booked for the murder of teenager Sachdeva, following which she was suspended from the party for harboring him. Devi’s son had allegedly shot dead Sachdeva for overtaking his car.
