The Telangana High Court took Suo Moto cognizance of the issue missing children after the State.
The public interest litigation has been registered on the basis of a news item published in a English daily Newspaper, Hyderabad City Edition dated 11.12.2023.
In the aforesaid news item, it has been stated that 10 kids go missing in the State of Telangana everyday and about 4,000 children remain untraced.
It has further been stated that the State of Telangana has been ranked eighth nationwide in the count of missing children and as many as 654 children including 391 girls, who went missing in 2022, have not been traced.
Considering the above, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti issued notice to the respondents.
