The Supreme Court on Monday (July 16) asked a petitioner who wanted the top court interference into some missing evidence to be investigated in the Saradha chit fund scam.

The court said either trial court or Calcutta High Court can look into the issue of missing evidence.

“We have already ordered the CBI inquiry into the case. But in case of any objection, state machineries are free to approach the high court and not this court,” the court said.

In 2014, the apex court had handed over the probe in the scam to the CBI.
