Narada case: Calcutta High Court suspends bail hearing of 4 TMC politicians due to Cyclone Yaas

A five-judge bench of the court was supposed to hear the bail pleas of the politicians (including two ministers) today after the Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to interfere in this case.

The four Trinamool Congress (YMC) politicians under house arrest in the 2016 Narada sting case will have to hang on there for longer, as the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday postponed all court hearings in view of the approaching cyclone Yaas. A five-judge bench of the court was supposed to hear the bail pleas of the politicians (including two ministers) today, after the Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to interfere in this case.

A notice issued by the court said: “Keeping in view the report of the meteorological department on cyclone Yaas, which is likely to cause heavy damage and widespread rainfall, as a precautionary measure, all electronic gadgets and devices for e-connectivity of the court shall remain shut. While the court was anyway scheduled to hear the matter virtually, with the cutting off of electronic gadgets, this too will not be held.
