A local court in the national capital directed a person, who pleaded guilty for allegedly disrespecting the Tiranga, to distribute 20 Indian National Flags to Delhi Legal Services Authority, which in turn, will pass them to child care homes.
The order was passed by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Nabeela Wali, who told Mohd Tariq Azi to provide “20 National Flags having dimension of 900×600 mm, as per the provisions of the Flag Code of India, 2002,” to Delhi State Legal Services Authority by August 8.
The ASJ further fined him Rs 2000, after his Counsel told the court that Azi had a clean record and he also felt remorse over the incident.
The petitioner had pleaded guilty under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults of National Honour Act, 1971, after being found prima facie guilty.
The Court fixed August 16 as the next date of hearing.
It directed the DLSA to ensure the “distribution of these flags by the convict at child care institutions, educational institutions for children, including madrasas under the Delhi Waqf Board and children observation homes”.
