NEET-UG 2022: Delhi HC dismisses plea to postpone medical entrance exam, it will be held on July 17

The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed a plea seeking the postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2022 exam which is to be held on July 17 in 497 cities across the country and 14 cities outside India.

The petition, filed by 15 NEET UG 2022 aspirants, was dismissed by the single bench of Justice Sanjeev Narula on several grounds.

The petitioners were seeking to set aside the date fixed for the entrance test and re-schedule it after four to six weeks.

The plea was too late and the petition was misconceived, the Delhi High Court said.

It’s just because these are students, the Court will not be harsh. Had it been anyone else, this would have been dismissed with costs, Justice Narula said.

Wishing all the best to the students, Justice Narula said the pressure can only be eased by self-study and not like this.

There is absolutely no merit in the petition, the National Testing Agency (NTA) counsel said.

Appearing for the NTA, the counsel confirmed that more than 90% of these students have already downloaded admit cards and will be appearing for the exam. So, those who have not yet downloaded their NEET admit card 2022 can do so by visiting the official website.

The petition, filed through advocate Mamta Sharma, stated that the board examination ended in mid-June 2022 and the students have been forced to prepare for three national-level examinations without getting sufficient time.

The petitioners demanded the postponement of NEET exam because other examinations such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) are also scheduled to be held within a gap of 2 to 3 days and with a completely different syllabus as there is no scope for preparing the NEET exam 2022 particularly.
