The Madhya Pradesh High Court dropped Suo Moto Public Interest Litigation (PIL) registered on the ground that the grievance of the persons who were displaced due to the construction of the Sardar Sarovar Project has to be considered.
There were 5800 resettlement and rehabilitation cases which have to be heard by a Single Bench and 624 cases along with 436 payment cases to be heard by the Division Bench. Due to the delay in appointment of the Grievance Redressal Authority members, the suo moto petition was registered.
In view of the order passed by the Supreme Court dated 16.01.2015 in Writ Petition (Civil) 328 of 2002, the status report has been filed by the State along with document to indicate that three former Judges of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh have been appointed as Members of the Grievance Redressal Authority.
The Government Advocate, on instructions, submits that every appointment will be made to ensure that the Grievance Redressal Authority Members are appointed from time to time without causing any absence.
“Having considered the same and in view of the members being appointed, we do not find any reason to continue further with the proceedings. The same are dropped”, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Ravi Malimath and Justice Vishal Mishra ordered.
