A petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court in the matter of not allowing entry in the Taj Mahal with saffron clothes.
The petition has been filed by Jagat Guru Paramahansa Acharya Dharmendra Goswami through Advocate Abhishek Tiwari.
The petition has sought permission to enter the Taj Mahal with saffron robes.
The Petition said that Jagat Guru Paramhans had been prevented from entering the Taj Mahal on 26 April 2022 with saffron robes. As the dispute escalated, he was sent an invitation from ASI RK Patel to enter the Taj Mahal.
On this invitation, when he went to the Taj Mahal, he was asked to keep the saffron robes. It was said that entry will not be given to the Taj Mahal with saffron robes. Despite repeated requests by Paramhansa, he was not allowed to enter and he was sent back to Ayodhya after house arrest.
The petition further said on May 4, 2022, a leader of Hindu Yuva Vahini was allowed entry with saffron robes. The news of which was published in the newspapers. Paramhansa then made a representation to the competent authority for permission to enter with saffron robes, which was not disposed of. The petition has challenged the denial of entry into the temple with saffron robes and non-disposal of the representation.
Advocate Abhishek Tiwari says that this action of the Taj Mahal administration is a direct violation of Articles 14, 15, 16, and 19 of the Constitution. No one can be stopped from going anywhere just on the basis of religious dress and its dress. Especially unless there is a provision of a special type of dress code at the place of entry. It has been argued in the petition that no such dress code has been enforced for entry into the Taj Mahal.
It is an insult to Hinduism to not enter the Taj Mahal on saffron robes.
