The Delhi High Court has issued notice to the National Highways Authority of India and Delhi Government in a plea filed against the construction of a flyover in Dwarka’s Sector 22 and 23 over a residential road.
A single-judge bench of Justice Navin Chawla while hearing the plea through video conferencing sought responses from the NHAI, Delhi Government, Delhi Pollution Control Board, and other respondents.
The petition has been filed by Rao Cooperative Group Housing Society Limited through advocate Anand Verma and Advocate Abhishek Prasad seeking direction to cancel the construction of flyover on the DDA Road 226, Dwarka.
The petition stated, “The construction being carried out by Respondent No 1 is detrimental to the rights of the petitioners herein, which are co-operative group housing societies and residents of Sectors 22 and 23 of Dwarka. Approximately 50 residential apartment societies and 12 schools adjoin the said DDA Road No 226.”
The plea further pointed out that the construction of the flyover will lead to the cutting of trees, traffic, noise and air pollution, road safety issues, etc.
