A petition has been filed in the High Court of Uttar Pradesh seeking directions to the State Government to set up a separate infrastructure for COVID 19 patients while ensuring that other patients are treated in the Hospital itself.
The petition filed by ‘All India People Front’ has challenged the State Government’s directive to restrict the treatment of persons suffering from ailments or diseases other than COVID-19.
The petitioner has contended that it is requisite to have a separate infrastructure for COVID-19 patients since the number of cases of COVID-19 have been increasing and is likely to have its effect for a long time.
The petition has been filed after a 30-year-old pregnant woman died last Friday after she was allegedly denied treatment by at least eight government and private hospitals in Noida and Ghaziabad due to non-availability of beds.
The petitioner has submitted that the Non COVID-19 patients be provided the same treatment at hospitals as they were being provided before the outbreak of the Pandemic.
The petitioner has also prayed to set aside the Government Notification that directed Government and private hospitals to restrict treatment of Non COVID 19 patients.
It has further been prayed seeking directions to the authorities to ensure that hospitals provide treatment to patients both COVID-19 as well as non COVID-19 patients.
