The Punjab and Haryana High Court has once again slammed the former SHO of Khanna Sadar police station, Baljinder Singh. While hearing Singh’s bail petition on Thursday, the High Court has kept it pending. The next hearing of the case has been fixed on January 29. Baljinder Singh is jailed in Patiala.
A case was registered against Baljinder Singh and Munshi Varun in Khanna Sadar police station for forcing three people, including a father and a son, to be stripped and making their videos viral. The case against Baljinder was registered on July 4 after an investigation by the SIT formed by DGP Dinkar Gupta on the order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The SIT was led by Dr. Naresh Kumar Arora, ADGP. A case was registered against Baljinder at City-1 police station.
Baljinder Singh surrendered before IG Ludhiana Naunihal Singh on September 5 as soon as his anticipatory bail was rejected and Baljinder Singh did not get any relief even after approaching Supreme Court.
After that, Singh was sent to Patiala Jail in late September as he contracted the coronavirus infection. He moved the High Court after his bail plea was dismissed in the Ludhiana Sessions Court. However, Baljinder is not relieved after several dates in the High Court as well.
Earlier, Baljinder’s separate bail plea was quashed by the High Court. Baljinder Singh had sought bail on medical ground citing ill health, which the court has not accepted. Advocate Gautam Dutt on behalf of Baljinder Singh and Advocate Guninder Singh Brar appeared on behalf of the aggrieved side.
