The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Central government to look into the petition suggesting blending of ethanol in petrol and making of bio-fuel from different feed stocks, as per the research and development undertaken by several authorities and individuals.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Ravi Shanker Jha and Justice Arun Palli passed the order, while dismissing a petition filed by one Ram Kumar
The Bench observed that this matter requires to be considered by the respondent-authorities.
Arun Gosain, Senior Panel Counsel appearing for the respondent-Union of India submitted that the representation filed by the petitioner dated June 27, 2018 in this regard shall be considered by all the concerned departments in their individual capacity in accordance with law and a conjoint decision, if so required, would be taken by them expeditiously.
The petitioner in addition may file a comprehensive representation, if so required, before the respondent-authorities in this regard, which may also be considered by the respondent-authorities in accordance with law.
“However, it is made clear that the Court has not issued any direction or expressed any opinion on the merits of the case, therefore, the respondent authorities would be at liberty to examine the matter, keeping all facts and facets into consideration,” the order read.
